How to move to Canada in 2023 for Employment

The workforce shortage has been a great challenge to combat after the pandemic. Therefore, to ease the workforce shortage, the Canadian government is using immigration as a coping mechanism. With the help of immigration, Canada is targeting skilled workers worldwide. Canada invites applicants through Federal Skilled Worker Program for employment and to settle down. The immigration authorities approve over 400+ occupations under FSWP to invite candidates.

To be eligible for the FSWP program under Express Entry, applicants must secure 67 points out of 100. Fulfilling a minimum of 67 points requirement out of 100 in the FSWP assessment grid is mandatory. These 67 points are allotted to candidates based on age, work experience, qualification, adaptability, etc. Therefore, kindly ensure you meet this criterion before applying to this program.

If you are willing to move to Canada in 2023 via FSWP under the Express Entry, kindly follow the below-listed steps-

  • First, the candidate needs to create an express entry profile through the program they are eligible for.
  • Once you have an EE profile, you will be added to the pool of applicants with a CRS score.
  • The CRS will be based on age, work experience, education, language proficiency, etc.
  • Candidates receive an ITA (Invitation to apply) from IRCC to submit their permanent residence visa application.

To check your eligibility for this program, kindly refer to the below-listed breakdown of the FSWP points. If you can secure 67 points, you are qualified for the FSWP under the Express Entry System.

Work Experience-

Work experience in a skilled occupation will enable the candidate to secure 15 points. You must hold at least one year of full-time work experience in an occupation available in the NOC TEER categories to be considered for the FSWP. To acquire a maximum of 15 points, you must have six years or above of work experience. A work experience of 1 year will serve you only 9 points out of 15.

Education Level-

Candidates’ education will allow them to get a maximum of 25 points. If you have obtained an education outside of Canada, you must present the ECA (Education Credential Assessment) report. An ECA report will prove your education equivalent to Canadian education. On the contrary, if you have completed your education within Canada, you must submit the education credentials. Notably, your level of education will decide the total points for education. For instance, you will get the maximum points if your highest education is a doctoral degree.

Language Proficiency-

To be eligible for any program under the Express Entry, you must be proficient in any official Canadian language. English and French are considered the official languages of Canada. You must take a language proficiency test to validate your proficiency in any official language. For instance, if you wish to prove your proficiency in the English language, you can go with the IELTS or CELPIP. On the other hand, you can go with the TCF or TEF to prove your French proficiency. Language proficiency will allow you to get a maximum of 28 marks.

Age-

The candidate’s age also plays a vital role in securing the 67 points. If you are aged 18 to 35, you will get maximum points for this factor. The maximum points for this factor are 12. After 35, one point will get deducted with each passing year. However, if you are younger than 18, you will not be considered eligible to apply. And candidates older than 47 years will not get any points. However, you can still apply if you align with CRS requirements and meet 67 points.

Arranged Employment-

If you have arranged employment in Canada, it will reward you with a maximum of 15 points. However, your employment must be from a Canadian employer for at least a year. Your job offer letter will not be valid if it is seasonal. Therefore, if you arrange employment, ensure it is full-time and paid.

Adaptability-

The adaptability factor holds a value of 10 points. However, the candidate must prove their adaptability to Canadian culture, living, and environment to get these points. You can show the following evidence to prove your adaptability-

  • Any previous study experience in Canada
  • Any previous work experience in Canada
  • Having blood connections or relatives in Canada
  • Your spouse with Canadian work experience or education

If you can secure 67 points under the FSWP assessment grid, you can apply under the FSWP program. Along with the 67 points requirement, you must align with the program’s other requirements. Therefore, before you start the procedure, kindly check your eligibility. Also, you can take the assistance of an immigration consultant to make the process easy and smooth. An immigration professional will assist you throughout your immigration journey.

Applying for a Canadian PR through this program increases your chances of employment. In 2023, the federal government highly prefers candidates who can easily integrate into the Canadian workforce. This approach will allow the Canadian government to confront the chronic workforce shortage efficiently. So, you can easily settle there if you belong to any in-demand occupation in Canada.
