How to Get a Gulf Job Without Experience

There are many individuals who envision working in various Gulf nations like the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain. However, a popular question asked by them is: “Can I get a Gulf job with no work experience?” Yes, however, you will need to apply the correct way, prepare sufficiently for placement and select suitable entry-level jobs.

In addition, choosing the right job category is essential to your success as an immigrant worker in the Gulf. Many jobs do not require a great deal of experience; therefore, employers may choose to employ individuals with little or no experience. A good rule of thumb is to consider positions that align with your level of education and skills. For example, you might seek to apply for entry-level positions in hospitality, facility management, logistics, construction support, retail, cleaning services, warehouse work, customer service or other basic office roles.

There are many common entry-level roles available, including, though not limited to,  helper, cleaner, waiter, kitchen helper/cleaner, hotel word/staff, packing and/or receiving, warehouse assistant and/or delivery staff.

Choose the Right Job Category

Don’t apply to more advanced or technical jobs if you don’t have any experience. Instead, apply for jobs that you are qualified for, based on your present skill set and education level. There are a number of entry positions that may be available within the Gulf region, such as those found in hospitality, facility maintenance, logistics, construction assistance, retail, cleaning, warehousing, customer service and entry-level office roles.

Examples of typical entry-level jobs are: Helpers, Cleaners, Waiters, Kitchen Help, Housekeepers, Packing Personnel, Warehouse Assistants, Delivery Assistants, Office Assistants, Store Helpers and Trainee Technicians.

By entering the Gulf through an entry-level job, you will gain experience within the region, which can lead to a stronger career path in the future.

Learn Basic Skills Before Applying

Even if you have no prior work history to reference, you may still improve your chances of gaining employment by learning basic skills relevant to the job you are applying for. For instance, if you are applying for a position in hospitality, attempt to learn some basic customer service skills. If you would like to apply for warehouse positions then learn about the skills needed for packing, loading and inventory supply. If you would like to apply for an office position, improve your skills with computers, the English language, communication, and how to create basic documents.

Completing short training courses, internships, an apprenticeship, or earning a skill certificate will improve your profile and make you a more appealing candidate to employers, as they generally look for candidates who are committed and motivated to learn.

Prepare a Clear CV

You don’t want your Freshers CV to be blank; you need to show what you’ve done, including education, training and skills, language skills, computer skills, internships and part-time work. You may mention if you have worked in your family-owned businesses or other experience gained through various  work experiences.

Make sure you show your current location, passport status, phone number and availability.

Using false experience can cause serious difficulties when your information is checked and during the selection process. Therefore, a simple, honest CV is best.

Keep Your Documents Ready

Ensure you have your Passport, certificates of education, all training certificates, ID proof, passport photos and current CV ready. You will probably need a medical clearance certificate, a police clearance certificate and proof of skill, depending on the country you are going to and which employer you work for.

Having all your paperwork ready to go means you’ll be in a position to respond quickly if you find a good opportunity.

Avoid Fake Job Offers

Freshers are a favourite target for false agents who promise you an automatic Gulf job without an interview or the necessary documents or details. Be wary of job offers that appear too good to be true, or where you would have to pay to obtain proof of the job. Only apply for jobs through recognised agencies and checked channels.
