After the pandemic, Canada has been uplifting its target for Canadian PR each year. However, you should know each program's PR requirements before applying.

How to Immigrate to Canada in 2023?

There are various immigration pathways by which you can immigrate to Canada easily in the year 2023. However, the Canada PR eligibility criteria for immigration may vary from one to another program. Thus, you will have to find out which immigration eligibility program in 2023 will be more suitable for you. If your profile aligns with the PR requirement of any gateway, you can go with that.

Most of the candidates immigrate to Canada through major programs like Express Entry and PNP. These two are the prominent programs people opt for to immigrate to Canada. Before you initiate the process of applying for Canadian PR, let’s know Canada PR eligibility criteria for the different immigration programs for 2023-

Note: To be eligible for Express Entry immigration pathways, candidates must secure at least 67 points out of 100. The points are allotted based on your age, experience, language efficiency, and arranged full-time employment (optional).

Express Entry System

Express Entry functions to manage the skilled workers’ application of all the programs that come under the Express Entry System. There are mainly three programs that come under the Express Entry; FSWP, CEC, and FSTP. All these three programs have different Canada PR eligibility criteria. Before applying to any program to get Canadian PR in 2023, you must know each program's eligibility.

FSWP: If you wish to apply under FSWP to get a Canada PR visa, meeting the listed eligibility criteria is mandatory. If you are meeting the PR requirement of this program, you can opt for this-

  • One year of continuous experience as a full-time employee in the last ten years in any occupation classified under the NOC.
  • Securing 67 points out of 100 is mandatory in the FSWP grid.
  • Showing Canadian educational credentials or presenting Educational Credential Report.

  • Within 36 months of the application date, you have earned one year of experience in Canada.
  • You must have scored a CBL of 5 for NOC TEER category 2 to 3. On the other hand. You need to score a CBL of 7 for the NOC TEER category of 0 to 1.
  • Willing to work and stay outside of the Quebec province. In case you want to work and stay in the Quebec province only, you can apply for the Quebec experience class

Remark: The work experience you gained when you were a full-time student and self-employed is not counted under the CEC.

FSTP: Candidates need to align with the below-listed eligibility criteria to be qualified for this program. If you are up to the eligibility criteria of FSTP, you can apply for it. The eligibility criteria for FSTP are-

  • A job offer letter of full-time employment for a minimum of one year from a Canadian employer.
  • Securing CLB 5 for speaking & listening and CLB 4 for writing & reading from an esteemed language testing organization in Canada.
  • Two years of experience, at least in the skilled occupations in the last five years.
  • Showcase the skills and experience you have used to perform the responsibilities of the occupation.

You can begin with the procedure if you have qualified for the Express Entry. Firstly, you will have to create an Express Entry profile. While creating an Express Entry profile, you will have to update all the details, including name, age, work experience, and language proficiency. Based on these parameters, you will get a CRS score.

The IRCC releases the draws in every two weeks. If your CRS score meets the cut-off, you get the invitation to apply for Canadian PR. After receiving an ITA, IRCC may take up to 6 months to complete the PR application process.

There is a serious shortage of skilled workers in Canada across the sectors. Therefore, the IRCC is inviting the PR through Express Entry on a large number. Canada will be welcoming newcomers through Express Entry more and more in the upcoming years to grapple with the workforce shortage

Remark: If your occupation falls under the category of the occupations that are high in demand, your chances of getting the Canadian PR in 2023 will be higher.

PNP

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stands out as a great substitute for Express Entry. Candidates who are incompetent to meet the CRS score can opt for the PNP to immigrate to Canada. Each year, there are over 1,00,000 people immigrate to Canada under the PNP.

Every province and territory of Canada has its own PNP, excluding Quebec and Nunavut. However, the PR requirement of each province and territory may vary. PNP uses the EOI (Expression of Interest), likewise ITAs in the Express Entry.

600 extra CRS are fetched into your account if any province in the Express Entry pool nominates you. Once you have 600 extra CRS, you will definitely be able to meet the PR requirement of the economic programs of the Express Entry.

How does a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Work?

The CRS system was introduced in the year 2015. CRS enables the Canadian government to find the right skilled workers in the pool of Express Entry. On the basis of age, work experience, skills, education, and language, candidates receive a CRS score. Candidates with the highest CRS score get the invitation to apply from the IRCC.

Plenty of candidates immigrate to Canada as skilled workers every year. And, to manage the application of skilled workers, Canada uses the Express Entry System. Candidates who receive the highest CRS score are prioritized for the invitation to apply.

There are several instances that justify CRS as the suitable model and approach for the Express Entry system. This aids in filtering out the candidates who will be able to align with the Canadian job market. Candidates who immigrated to Canada through Express Entry have high salaries and low employment rates, as per the surveys.

There is a score assigned to every profile present in the pool based on several characteristics, such as-

  • Age
  • Work experience
  • Skills
  • Education
  • Proficiency in English and French (Optional)

The IRCC holds an Express Entry draw every two weeks to invite the candidates from the express entry pool.

Why does Canada Offer PR Substantially Every Year?

After the pandemic, Canada has been looking for immigrants from across the world on a large scale. There are multiple factors that incite Canada to invite immigrants every year. It might be shocking to you that the numbers are elevating each year; for example

  • In the year 2021, Canada invited 405,000 candidates through different immigration plans.
  • On the other hand, Canada is actively looking to invite 27,000 more candidates than the last year in 2022.
  • Next year, in 2023, Canada will be welcoming 465,000 newcomers from different countries.

Lack of Workforce Shortage- Canada has been going through a workforce shortage for a long. There are currently around 1 million vacant positions in the distinct sectors. Therefore, Canada wants skilled workers substantially to get over the workforce shortage.

Aging and Retirement Population- Another significant factor in looking forward to offering Canada PR in big figures is the aging and retirement population. The aging population group is more than young people in Canada. The aging population is getting retired and leaving their services which leads to a workforce shortage. Hence, Canada is on the hunt to bring skilled people into its country to fulfil the space in the workforce left by the aging and retirement group.

Low Birth Rate- As per the surveys, the birth rate in Canada is very low. Therefore, Canada lacks behind in the young population. Hence, Canada finds candidates from different countries to fulfill its economic needs.

These are factors that provoke Canada to invite immigrants on a large scale. If you meet the PR requirement of any program, you can apply for it. Therefore, check each program's PR requirement to know which one aligns with your profile.
