Good news for Indian nationals: British High Commissioner Alex Elis said in a tweet on 16th December 2022 that the UK government has lowered the processing period for visa applications to the customary 15 days.
The United Kingdom’s visa processing time has been reduced to under 15 days, which is good news for Indian people visiting the country. Priority visas will now be handled in just five days.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the country’s border was reopened, and the UK has been having trouble processing a large influx of immigration visas. The number of Indian people seeking student visas increased by 89% in the year ending June 2022 compared to the prior year, according to British High Commissioner Alex Ellis. Not only did the number of work visas requested by qualified Indian employees increase by a staggering 148% to 1.03 lakh in the year ending in June 2022 compared to the year before, but also the number of student visa applications.
Over 2.58 lakh Indian citizens applied for visit visas in the June 2022 ending year. It represents a whopping 630% increase in the number of visa applications from the year prior, primarily due to strict travel restrictions around the world to stop the spread of Covid-19 cases.
India has surpassed China as the most common nationality receiving sponsored study visas in the UK due to the rise in the number of visa applications from Indian citizens that the UK has been receiving.

Alex Ellis stated, “Good news for individuals traveling from India to the UK because they can get their visit visas now within the normal time of 15 working days,” about the reduction of the general visa processing period for Indian nationals to under 15 days (with a small number of trickier cases taking longer).
