Canada Immigration Eligibility Points

Canada is looking for immigrants worldwide to meet its demographic and economic requirements. Therefore, Canada has set a target of bringing 1.5 million newcomers to Canada by the end of 2025. However, skilled workers will be highly desired through these targets. Integrating new skilled workers into the workforce will help to minimize the workforce shortage. So, if you belong to an in-demand Canadian occupation/sector, you can apply for Canada PR via economic immigration pathways.

Canada immigration eligibility points are vital in securing PR from India. Candidates are required to align with the requirements of the Canada PR eligibility points. Firstly, you must be eligible for the program by grabbing 67 points out of 100 if applying through the FSWP. On the other hand, if you intend to get a Canada PR visa through any program under the EE, you must be aligned with the program’s requirements. Once you are eligible, you will be added to the pool of applicants. A CRS score will be allotted to each profile in the pool. This is how the Canada immigration eligibility score works.

If you plan to move to Canada as a skilled worker in 2023, you can get your Canada PR visa through the economic programs managed by the Canadian government via the Express Entry System. Three major programs reside in the EE: FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. Notably, all the economic programs under the Express Entry have different eligibility criteria. Therefore, kindly check their prerequisites before applying to any particular program. If you meet the program’s requirements, you can initiate the process.

Three Major Economic Immigration Programs Under Express Entry

FSWP- To be eligible under the FSWP program, the candidate must have at least one year of full-time paid work experience in the last ten years. The work experience should be in the NOC TEER categories. Candidates need to get 67 points out of 100 based on numerous factors. It is mandatory to secure 67 points to be eligible under this program. Kindly ensure you meet Canada immigration eligibility points before you initiate the process.

If you apply for a Canada PR visa through the FSWP program under the Express Entry, You need to align with the programs’ requirements. The prime prerequisite of this program is to secure 67 points in the FSWP assessment grid. You can only enter the pool if you score 67 or more points. Along with the 67 points requirement, the candidate must meet other program requirements. The other requirements may include language proficiency, work experience, proof of funds, etc. Therefore, before you apply for a Canada PR visa from India in 2023, ensure you meet the FSWP eligibility criteria.

CEC- If you plan Canada immigration in 2023 via the CEC program under the Express Entry, you must have Canadian work experience. However, the work experience must be full-time, paid, and for at least one year. A work experience could be interrupted and uninterrupted.

FSTP- To apply under this program, you must hold two years of work experience in the skilled trade. Also, you must have a paid and full-time job offer letter from a Canadian employer for at least one year.

There are multiple pathways via which you can immigrate to Canada in 2023. However, one of the highly desired and straightforward pathways is Express Entry. There are three economic programs under this system; FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. Most candidates are eligible for the FSWP program as you don’t need any Canadian job offer or work experience. If you wish to assess against FSWP to immigrate to Canada, you need to get at least 67 Canada PR points out of 100.

These 67 points under the FSWP assessment grid are allotted based on age, work experience, language ability, highest qualification, etc. If you are competent enough to secure 67 points or higher, you can apply for the Canada PR through this route. However, along with 67 Canada PR points’ requirements, you need to stand in line with other requirements of the program.

What should be your CRS score to get an ITA? -

It has always been hard to predict the CRS score and number of ITAs. However, it is observed that to get an ITA; the CRS score must be above the cut-off. In 2023, the CRS score is constantly falling by 2 to 3 points.

In 2023, the CRS score was lower than 500 in almost every Express Entry draw except the draw that took place on 11 January 2023.

The CRS score is assigned to you based on several factors such as age, work experience, language ability, qualification, etc. The higher the CRS score, the higher the chances of getting an ITA. In addition to this, the IRCC will operate targeted draws too. In the targeted draws, the IRCC will be picking up candidates based on particular occupations, language abilities, etc.

What are the factors for the Canada PR points?-

If you apply through the FSWP under Express Entry, you must first meet the 67 points requirements. In order to be eligible for this program, grab at least 67 points out of 100. Below are the factors that are considered during your eligibility assessment-

One of the prime requisites of this program is to attain 67 points out of 100. These are FSWP points that you need to be eligible for the program.

Conversely, once you have qualified for the program, you will be entered into the pool of applicants with a CRS score. The CRS score will determine your possibility of getting an ITA. If you get a CRS score higher than 500, you have a higher chance of getting an ITA for a Canada PR visa.

Is Canada giving PR to Indians? -

Yes, Canada grants PR visas to candidates from all countries. Irrespective of your nationality, you can apply for a Canadian PR visa. However, you must meet the minimum eligibility criteria of the program through which you are applying. Every immigration pathway comes with different eligibility criteria to meet to get a PR visa.

It might be shocking to you, but yes, Indians make up the highest number of immigrants in Canada. Most Indians immigrate to Canada through Express Entry only. It is one of the easiest pathways to immigrate to Canada from India. Therefore, if you are planning to immigrate to Canada, the FSWP program under Express Entry is highly suitable for you.

Is 400 CRS enough for a Canada PR visa? -

When it comes to CRS, you need to score as high as possible. The higher the CRS score, the higher the chance of receiving an ITA during an Express Entry draw. However, through Provincial Nominee Program with less CRS score also you can be nominated based on your skill set. The IRCC usually comes up with Express Entry draw once every two weeks. During the draw, the IRCC releases a cut-off that you need to align with to get an ITA. If you score higher or equivalent to the cut-off, you receive the ITA to apply for a PR visa.

However, this year the IRCC is not following its typical pattern of conducting draws. The IRCC is coming up with draws more frequently due to its high immigration level target. The CRSS is allotted to you out of 1200 based on age, work experience, qualification, and other additional factors.
