The CRS continues to fall once again

On November 1, Canada unveiled its new immigration plan for 2023 to 2025. Canada will be welcoming 5,00,000 newcomers by the end of 2025. Numerous reasons contribute to inviting immigrants on a big scale every year, such as 1 million vacant positions, low birth rate, aging population, etc. Having a workforce shortage leads to the slow growth of the economy. Therefore, Canada is actively inviting people from across the world to deal with the workforce shortage.

The IRCC conducted its most recent draw for all the programs that come under the express entry on November 23. It came out as the 11th draw since the IRCC restarted to conduct the draw on July 6. In this draw, the CRS score continues to drop and reach 491. On the other hand, in the last two draws, the CRS went to 494 and 496, respectively. It is apparent that CRS is continuously going down drastically.

There were 4,750 candidates meeting the CRS who received the ITAs from IRCC. Candidates meeting the cut-off from all the existing programs in the express entry system received the ITAs. The popular programs that are a significant part of express entry are-

  • Federal skilled worker program
  • Canadian experience class
  • Federal skilled trades program

The number of issued ITAs in the last two draws and the current one remains the same, i.e., 4,750. However, the CRS keeps falling by 2 to 3 points in each draw.

New TEER system–

IRCC announced NOC on November 23. It is the upgraded and corrected version of the NOC 2016. NOC is the acronym for national occupation classification, which aims to regulate the profession and skills of the candidates present in the express entry pool.

This system (NOC) functions to classify the occupation on the basis of training, education, experience, and responsibility. The new TEER system revamped NOC 2016’s skill from O to E and launched the similar five TEERS-

NOC 2016NOC 2021
Skill Type OTEER 0
Skill Type ATEER 1
Skill Type BTEER 2
Skill Type CTEER 3
Skill Type DTEER 4
Skill Type ETEER 5

After the entry of the TEER system into the express entry, 16 new occupations are qualified for express entry. On the other hand, three occupations have been eliminated. The eliminated occupation might be acceptable in other immigration modes, such as PNP.

The new occupations listed are the same, wherein Canada has a workforce shortage. Canada has a severe shortage of skilled workers in the tech, healthcare, and driving industries. By adding these occupations to the express entry, Canada will be competent to invite highly needed professionals.

Occupations that are eligible in the express entry system are-

  • Payroll administrators
  • Dental assistants and dental laboratory assistants
  • Nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates
  • Pharmacy technical assistants and pharmacy assistants
  • Elementary and secondary school teacher assistants
  • Sheriffs and bailiffs
  • Correctional service officers
  • By-law enforcement and other regulatory officers
  • Estheticians, electrologists, and related occupations
  • Residential and commercial installers and servicers
  • Pest controllers and fumigators
  • Other repairers and servicers
  • Transport truck drivers
  • Bus drivers, subway operators, and other transit operators
  • Heavy equipment operators
  • Aircraft assemblers and aircraft assembly inspectors

Possible changes penetrating the express entry in the upcoming year 2023-

The IRCC will continue conducting draws in the upcoming months as it does. And the IRCC will be offering the ITAs on the basis of the CRS. Candidates who are meeting the cut-off from all the programs will receive the ITAs.

However, there are some changes you might have to see in the express entry in 2023. According to bill C-19, the IRCC will be privileged to carry out the targeted draws. Candidates might witness changes in the criteria for getting ITA amongst the draws. The draws will be conducted based on Canada’s economic needs.

For example, The IRCC may issue ITAs to candidates based on their language proficiency, work experience, education, occupation, etc. By conducting the targeted draws, Canada can easily fill the workforce shortage. Also, it will help newcomers to chase their dreams without any hassle.

What is express entry?

The core role of express entry is to manage the application online for all express entry programs. There are prominently three programs under the express entry known as-

  • Federal skilled worker program
  • Canadian experience class
  • Federal skilled trades program

If there is any applicant in the express entry pool from the PNP, they are already eligible for any of the programs.

The express entry uses the comprehensive ranking system (CRS) to rank the profiles present in the pool. Candidates who secure a good ranking in the pool get the invitation to apply. Once you have ITA, you can initiate the procedure for permanent residency.

Once you have applied for Canadian PR, the concerned authorities will verify your papers, details, and documents. If the provided details are up to date & official, you are just one step away from the PR.
