Job Description:
- Cuts, bends, positions, and secures steel bars or mesh
- Reinforces concrete in construction projects
- Ensures structural strength and stability of buildings, bridges, roads, etc.
- Reads and interprets technical drawings
- Works closely with engineers and other trades
- Ensures reinforcement placement meets specifications
- Contributes to safety, durability, and structural integrity
Knowledge & Qualification:
- Personal evaluation (attitude, reliability, and work ethic) plays a bigger role than in many other trades
- Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of construction and concrete reinforcement
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Good physical strength and stamina
Role & Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret structural and technical drawings for rebar placement
- Measure, cut, and bend steel bars to required dimensions using hand and power tools
- Tie rebar securely in place using wire, pliers, and other fastening methods
- Follow safety procedures and use protective equipment at all times
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
