The number of foreign workers in Slovakia continues to grow constantly due to labour shortages, especially among <\/span>workers from India<\/b>, who are now the most rapidly growing nationality making up the foreign workforce in Slovakia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, there are <\/span>more than 9,000 Indian nationals employed in Slovakia<\/b> within the foreign labour force in Slovakia. The trend represents the growing trend of European businesses looking beyond their own borders for potential talent to fill gaps in their employee base.<\/span><\/p>\n

Labour Shortages Continue to Pressure Employers<\/b><\/h2>\n

There continues to be a strong need for qualified people in Slovakia. Current industry reports estimate a shortage of <\/span>40,000-50,000 qualified workers in Slovakia<\/b>, particularly for manufacturing, automotive, and engineering industries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In view of the ongoing local recruitment issues, many companies have reported that they are unable to maintain their levels of production because of a lack of qualified applicants; therefore, to address this shortfall, companies will need to hire internationally, as opposed to just looking locally for potential qualified candidates on an as-needed basis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Government Expands Visa Quotas<\/b><\/h2>\n

To meet these challenges, the Slovak Government has raised the annual visa quotas each year, meaning that many more non-EU workers (such as those from India) are now able to work in Slovakia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The increased number of foreign workers will reduce some of the strain felt by employers trying to hire additional workers. However, in order for employers to hire foreign workers, they need to have a well-organised process in place for recruiting foreign workers, including documentation management and compliance with applicable laws, as well as the onboarding of new employees.<\/span><\/p>\n
